Hydropower Scheduling with State-Dependent Discharge Constraints: An SDDP Approach

چکیده
Environmental constraints in hydropower systems serve to ensure sustainable use of water resources. Through accurate treatment scheduling, one seeks respect such the planning phase while optimizing utilization hydropower. However, many environmental introduce state-dependencies and even nonconvexities scheduling problem, making them challenging represent stochastic models. This paper describes how state-dependent maximum discharge constraint, which is widely enforced Norwegian system, can be embedded within dual dynamic programming (SDDP) algorithm for without compromising computational time. In this work, a combination constraint relaxation time-dependent auxiliary lower reservoir volume bounds applied, modeling verified through experiments on two different systems. The results demonstrate that addition an bound has significant potential improved system operation, based minimum accumulated inflow period most efficient.

Multi-Objective Unrelated Parallel Machines Scheduling with Sequence-Dependent Setup Times and Precedence Constraints
This paper presents a novel, multi-objective model of a parallel machines scheduling problem that minimizes the number of tardy jobs and total completion time of all jobs. In this model, machines are considered as unrelated parallel units with different speeds. In addition, there is some precedence, relating the jobs with non-identical due dates and their ready times. Sequence-dependent setup t...
متن کاملHydropower optimization: an industrial approach
Nowadays hydroelectric energy is one of the best energy sources: it is cleaner, safer and more programmable than other sources. For this reason, its manage could not be done in an approssimative way, but advance mathematical models must be use. In this article we consider an overview of the problem: we introduce the problem, then we show its simplest but quite exaustive mathematical formulation...
متن کاملA Clustering Approach to Scientific Workflow Scheduling on the Cloud with Deadline and Cost Constraints
One of the main features of High Throughput Computing systems is the availability of high power processing resources. Cloud Computing systems can offer these features through concepts like Pay-Per-Use and Quality of Service (QoS) over the Internet. Many applications in Cloud computing are represented by workflows. Quality of Service is one of the most important challenges in the context of sche...
متن کاملCockpit Crew Pairing Problem in Airline Scheduling: Shortest Path with Resources Constraints Approach
Increasing competition in the air transport market has intensified active airlines’ efforts to keep their market share by attaching due importance to cost management aimed at reduced final prices. Crew costs are second only to fuel costs on the cost list of airline companies. So, this paper attempts to investigate the cockpit crew pairing problem. The set partitioning problem has been used for ...
متن کاملState-Dependent Deadline Scheduling
This paper presents a new workload model, called the state-dependent deadline model, for applications whose high-level timing requirements may change with time. The problem is how to choose target deadlines for jobs from their time-varying deadlines so that the system can meet its requirements with a high probability. In the clairvoyant case, the deadline of every job is given by a known functi...
